ABOUT

Hello everybody, my name is Jacopo. I was born in the year 1981 in Perugia, Italy under the direction of my wonderful parents Iva and Feliciano. I have one fantastic brother, David and I grew up always surrounded by superlative people and other little cute creatures, our pets. Around the age of 11 I discovered my real passion, the music and some years later I started to play piano, taking lessons from local teachers. In the meanwhile, of course, I was going to school and because (maybe) my brain was (is) not capable to manage too many situations at the same time, I decided to take a break with the piano in order to focus more at school. So I did. But it didn't last for too long. As a teenager I used to be (I still am) a big fan of grunge and heavy metal music in all their subgenres. Listening to the songs I realized that my attention was mainly on the rhythm section. Around the age of 16 I took my first sticks in my hands and I started to play the drums, trying to copy my, at the time, heroes (Vinnie Paul, Nicko Mcbrian, Lars Ulrich, Dave Grohl, Ian Paice  etc.) rehearsing and doing concerts with friends. At that time I started to develop interest for other types of music as well, in particular for jazz and classical. In 1998 I applied to study percussion instruments at the Conservatory of music in Perugia and in the same year I started the course under the precious guide of the Maestro Domenico Fontana. In 2006 I graduated with Summa cum Laude (the highest honor). Also thanks to the conservatory I had the privilege to play with many great and important musicians including: Lorin Maazel, the Academy Award winner Luis Bacalov, Manuel de Sica, Tetraktis Percussioni, Ramberto Ciammarughi, David Russell, Gian Claudio Mantovani, Tonino Battista, Susanna Rigacci and others.
Because percussions include so many different instruments, I decided to spend my energies more in those who have notes, that actually are the ones that I enjoy more to play: vibraphone and marimba. I studied vibraphone jazz with Andrea Dulbecco, Saverio Tasca and Gianni Maestrucci, attending workshops with great jazz Masters, including  Mike Mainieri, Dave Samuels, David Friedman, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Stefano Battaglia and others. In my jazz career I had the honor to share the stage with: Ramberto Ciammarughi, Achille Succi, Bruno Tommaso, Rossano Emili, Ettore Bonafe', Ludovico Carmenati, Mauro Cimarra, Massimo Onofri, Emanuele Pellegrini, Roberto Bisello, Silvia Bolognesi, Tetraktis Percussioni, Vina Lacerda, Selma Hernandez, Mirko Pedrotti, Mirco Rubegni and many others incredible artists.
The year 2009 was another amazing experience, that is Brazil. Here I stayed for a year and half, mainly in what is perhaps the most beautiful city that I ever seen, Rio de Janeiro, where I played with some local, great musicians, including the percussionists Scott Feiner and Thiago Martins.
Back in Europe I decided to move for a while in Berlin where I actually live.
In parallel I also have a career as a teacher, having taught and teaching music in various public and private institutions.
Well, I think by saying this, I should have , more or less, addressed all the main points of my professional life. So, I hope you will enjoy the material shown in this web site!
